Back from CR; Upcoming Events

Pam and I just got back from Costa Rica. We had a great trip and needed the break. Did a little sunnin’ and surfin’ and I should start peeling in a couple of days. Don’t know how Pam does it, but she’s still as white as ever. On this trip we took a day trip to Nicaragua (I highly recommend); played in a Texas hold’em poker tournament; and had close encounters with howler monkeys and crocodiles. Anyone interested in going should stay at the condo we have for rent in Tamarindo. Email hurst@adamnfineartist.com more info. More >

Texas Sports Hall of Fame Painting Update II

Post time again.

I’m coming off a disappointing day. Just found out Lance Berkman is waiving his induction into the Texas Sports Hall of Fame this year. Since my last post he accepted his induction; I confirmed it in person at the Tri-Star show in Houston; and (just yesterday) he bowed out. I did a fun painting (see previous post) that he seemed to enjoy when I showed it to him. Oh well, hopefully he’ll accept and go into the TSHOF next year. More >

Texas Sports Hall of Fame Painting Update

Due to the overwhelming response from my last post (LOL) I thought I’d offer of some more pearls.

As of last week, Lance Berkman has accepted his induction into the Texas Sports Hall of Fame. I’m pretty happy about this and started on his painting immediately and had quite a bit of fun with it. He has been known as “Fat Elvis”, and honestly I don’t think I would be thrilled with that moniker. Recently, he has become known as “the Big Puma”. As I was doing a web search, I stumbled over his fan club known as “The Little Pumas”. Seemed like a good opportunity to spread the word. “TLP’s” seemed excited about being immortalized with Lance in his painting AND (with a little prodding) they invited me to join them at a game. Hubba, hubba!! More >

Introduction by Artist Robert Hurst

Howdy all you hepcats! Welcome to my first blog entry. I will try to keep ya’ll up to date with all the neat stuff happening out there that you may find of interest.

First off, thanks for keeping my easel busy. I received some very interesting commissions (some still potentials) through contacts at the Armadillo Christmas Bazaar including; Eric Clapton; Les Paul; a suite of jazz themed paintings for an aficionado; a new Heisman piece; and Blaze Foley. I’m working on the painting of Blaze Foley and hope to have it completed in a week or two. This February is the 10th anniversary of his untimely death. He is being inducted into a music hall of fame in March (not sure which one as of this posting). Foley had an eventful life and created some great music. Check out his web site at blazefoley.com.
