Another year, another Heisman Anniversary Weekend in Austin, Texas. This is a pretty cool event. Triton Financial has combined the Legends of Golf tour with the Heisman banquet to create a unique even. Eighteen Heisman winners attended the banquet this year. Unfortunately, the 50th anniversary honoree Billy Cannon was a no show, something about missing a flight. Doug Flutie was honored for his 25th anniversary. He seemed genuinely happy to be part of the evening and said he plans to be more involved in future Heisman events. Earl Campbell (‘77), Tony Dorsett (‘76), Mike Rozier (‘83), Charley Ward (‘93) and Tim Brown (‘87) were there. I had 2 tables at the banquet and everyone showed up. We sat with Johnny Lattner (1953 Heisman) and Jason White (2003 Heisman). Bernard Langer and Ben Crenshaw also attended. I was standing next to Langer, getting a beer and I over heard him joke that he was surprised that no one was asking for his autograph. I also met the Executive Director of the Heisman Trophy Trust.
